RoOil Bypass 10% — high-efficiency hydrocarbon separator with bypass.
EN 858. Bypass 10% — a smaller share of untreated flow. From NS 15/1,5 to NS 200/20 (15 to 200 l/s).
The RoOil Bypass 10% is an underground HDPE hydrocarbon separator, EN 858 certified, with a 10% bypass device. Compared with the 20% bypass, it only activates at 1,1× the nominal flow rate — a smaller fraction of the peak flow is diverted untreated. Suited to installations with more demanding environmental requirements, or where peak flows may contain hydrocarbons. 7 models from NS 15/1,5 to NS 200/20 for nominal flow rates from 15 to 200 l/s.
Bypass 10% vs. Bypass 20% vs. Class I — which one to choose?
The RoOil Class I (no bypass) treats 100% of the flow — peaks included — and must be sized for the total peak flow. It is the solution with the highest absolute efficiency. The 20% bypass allows a smaller separator to be used, diverting 20% of the storm peak; the 10% bypass is a compromise: it diverts only 10% of the peak, keeping the separator at an intermediate size.
The 10% bypass is preferable to the 20% bypass when peak flows may carry some contamination (e.g. covered car parks, workshops with mixed drainage), or when the sewer operator requires lower bypass percentages. For installations with fully separated, clean stormwater, the 20% bypass may be sufficient at a lower cost.
The RoOil Bypass 10% advantages at a glance:
Efficiency and sizing
- ✓Bypass 10% — only 1/10 of the peak flow diverted untreated
- ✓7 models from 15 to 200 l/s for medium and large installations
- ✓A balance between treatment efficiency and installation cost
- ✓Datasheets and DWG files available for download
Structure and standard
- ✓EN 858 certified — the European standard for hydrocarbon separators
- ✓Bypass integrated into the tank — no additional external parts
- ✓Single-piece, weld-free HDPE tank: resistant to soil and groundwater
- ✓Suitable for covered car parks, workshops and mixed drainage
Installation and maintenance
- ✓Access through a telescopic DN600 cover for maintenance
- ✓Emptying by vacuum tanker — no special tools
- ✓Inert HDPE — does not corrode, does not contaminate
- ✓For full treatment of the peak flow, also available as Class I with no bypass
The RoOil Bypass 10% in detail

- 1Telescopic DN600 coverAccess to the interior for maintenance and emptying. Telescopic extension adjustable in level.
- 2Flow baffleSlows the effluent at the inlet, improving the settling of solids and sludge.
- 3Settling chamberRetention of settleable solids and sludge ahead of the separation compartment.
- 4Separation chamberFlotation and retention of hydrocarbons by density difference.
- 510% bypass deviceActivates when the flow exceeds 1,1× the nominal rate. Only 10% of the peak flow is diverted untreated.
- 6Outlet connectionDN200 to DN400 outlet depending on the model, for connection to the public sewer.
Supply includes: Single-piece HDPE tank with integrated bypass; settling chamber; separation chamber; 10% bypass device; inlet baffle; telescopic DN600 access points (1 or 2 depending on the model). DN200 to DN400 connections.
